“There is no immediate threat to the country. The Consultative Council for National Security will be convened immediately at the first signal of a change in the situation in the Middle East region or regarding Bulgaria’s security”, said President Iliana Iotova.

“There is no reason to further strain the people. Every risk is being closely monitored, and every piece of information is discussed carefully”, added President Iotova. According to Iliana Iotova, Bulgaria is doing very well in terms of evacuating Bulgarians from the Middle East.

Speaking before parliament, caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov stated that he has tasked Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov with analyzing whether U.S. military transport aircraft can be relocated from Sofia’s civilian airport.
