The Bulgarian school “Vasil Levski” in Southampton took visitors on a journey through the history of education in Bulgaria at an interactive event held on March 14.
Under the theme “The Power of the Pen”, the school welcomed dozens of Bulgarian families and was transformed into a series of themed spaces tracing the evolution of learning — from early church schools to the digital age.

Visitors moved through seven stages, including the National Revival period, post-Liberation reforms and the communist era, alongside displays of traditional crafts and folklore. Historical textbooks, uniforms and artefacts were paired with hands-on activities and modern interactive tools.
Participants received certificates marking their visit, while many shared reflections in a “book of memories” about their ties to Bulgaria.

The event ended with traditional music and dancing, bringing together past and present in a celebration of Bulgarian culture abroad.
