Number of Bulgarians abroad applying to vote doubles compared to 2024

A total of 60,897 Bulgarians in 68 countries have submitted applications to vote in the early parliamentary elections on April 19. The deadline for submitting applications expired at midnight Bulgarian time. More than 15,500 applications were submitted in Türkiye, 10,400 in the United Kingdom, 3,988 in the United States, and more than 8,000 in Germany.

According to the latest amendments to the Electoral Code, countries outside the EU can have up to 20 polling stations outside diplomatic and consular missions.

''The Central Election Commission has registered a dramatic increase in the number of applications to vote abroad. A total of 60,897 electronic applications have been submitted for the upcoming elections, compared with just over 30,000 in the October 2024 elections”, Central Election Commission Chairperson Kamelia Neykova told Nova TV.
