Bulgaria and Ukraine have agreed on the development of the Ukrainian language in Bulgarian schools. This was written by the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, in the Telegram app, as reported by BTA, following governmental consultations in Kyiv between Ukraine and Bulgaria.
Work will be done to strengthen the Ukrainian educational component in Bulgaria, says Lisovyi. This will be achieved through teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language in Bulgarian schools and including it in the official list of foreign languages in the country. The two countries will jointly work on the educational content in textbooks and published literature to ensure an objective representation of the history of Ukraine in Bulgaria and the history of Bulgaria in Ukraine.
Lisovyi noted that an important result of the meeting is the signing of a protocol between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria regarding the functioning of the Bolhrad Gymnasium “Georgi Rakovski” in the Odessa region.
The possibility of establishing a Ukrainian school in Bulgaria, modeled after the “Georgi Rakovski” Gymnasium, is also being considered, in order to preserve the Ukrainian identity of students.
