Tennis: Ivan Ivanov starts with a victory in the Spanish city of Reus

Tennis player Ivan Ivanov, who is part of Bulgaria’s Davis Cup team, recorded his sixth consecutive win after claiming the title last week at a men’s tennis tournament in Tarragona with a prize pool of $30,000.

The young Bulgarian tennis player began his participation in another tournament of the same category in Reus with a convincing 6:2, 6:0 victory over Deney Wassermann from the Netherlands. In the next round, he will face the tournament’s second seed, Geoffrey Blancaneaux.

Born in 2008, Ivan Ivanov won the junior title at the Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon Championships last year and rose to world No. 1 in the junior rankings. Yesterday, he was nominated by the Bulgarian Olympic Committee for the “Piotr Nurowski Prize”, which honors the best young athletes of the European Olympic Committees.
