A significant influx of tourists is expected this spring in Bulgaria’s Old Capital Veiko Tarnovo. All sites under the Regional Museum of History Veliko Tarnovo will be open during the Easter holidays, when a surge of visitors is anticipated.

Since the beginning of April, the opening hours of the museum’s sites and exhibitions have been updated. From April 10 to 12, 2026, an additional ticket office will operate at the Tsarevets Architectural and Museum Reserve from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale of a combined ticket for visiting 10 sites resumed on April 1, 2026.

The first organized groups of foreign visitors for this year began arriving in March. They travel on Danube cruise ships—mainly from the United States, but also from Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Passengers disembark in Ruse and take a bus journey of around 100 kilometers to Veliko Tarnovo and the nearby Arbanasi Architectural Reserve. This year, the Old Capital of Bulgaria is also expected to welcome many Bulgarian and Romanian tourists for Easter.
