The
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which
Bulgaria hopes to join next year, recommends reforms in five areas in the country – education, labour market with an emphasis on
workforce skills, competition, corruption, and energy.
Improving
the quality of education and wider participation of older people in
educational and training programs is one of the measures expected
from the country. Reducing regulatory barriers to competition and
combating corruption, accompanied by better efficiency of the justice
system, would stimulate investment flows to Bulgaria and increase
productivity through a more efficient allocation of resources, the
Foundations for Growth and Competitiveness 2026 reports states,
quoted by BTA.
It
also states that the transition from coal-fired electricity
generation, but not at the expense of energy security, will encourage
investments in renewable energy and related infrastructure.
Finance Minister hopes Bulgaria will join the OECD in 2027
