Low yields or high prices — this is the choice without crisis financing for Bulgarian farmers, caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Hristanov said at the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg. He noted that one of the main challenges for EU farmers is the rising cost of fertilizers and fuel following the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, the press center of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

“In Bulgaria, diesel prices have risen by about 37% from February to early April, while mineral fertilizer prices have increased by approximately 30%, which is putting serious pressure”, Ivan Hristanov said. He called for unused funds under the Common Agricultural Policy programmes to be redirected toward financing emergency support measures for farmers.
