Bulgaria records highest annual inflation among Eurozone countries

Annual inflation in Bulgaria rose to 6.2% in April 2026, according to data from Eurostat. This marks a significant increase compared to March, when it stood at 2.8%. A sharp rise was recorded within just one month, placing the country well above the eurozone average of 3.0%.
Eurostat reported monthly inflation of 2.0% in April. With annual inflation of 6.2%, Bulgaria ranked among the EU countries with the highest price growth during the month.
Bulgaria’s gross external debt stood at over EUR 65 billion at the end of February, or 52.9% of projected GDP. This represents an increase of EUR 15.7 billion, or 31.7%, compared to a year earlier, according to the Bulgarian National Bank.
