No serious incidents related to attempts at foreign interference were identified during the elections for the 52nd National Assembly, said caretaker Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velizar Shalamanov at a debate in the European Parliament’s Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield. According to Velizar Shalamanov, only limited cyberattacks were observed in the final hours of election day.
Investigative journalist Christo Grozev said he was proud that “Bulgaria activated the EU Rapid Response System for the early parliamentary elections.”
“In Bulgaria, electoral techniques were used that are known both overseas and in Romania and Hungary”, Grozev said. According to him, three political forces showed coordinated electoral behaviour – “Progressive Bulgaria”, “DPS – New Beginning” and “There Is Such a People”, reported BNR’s correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova.
