Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov said he would appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court against the Prosecutorial College’s refusal to open disciplinary proceedings against Borislav Sarafov.

According to Naydenov, a number of unanswered questions surrounding Sarafov still need to be clarified through a legally regulated procedure.

The minister said Sarafov should not “hide behind the silence” of institutions and expressed hope that he would withdraw from the judicial system altogether. Naydenov added that if this does not happen, he would continue to push for disciplinary action against him.

After stepping down as acting prosecutor general in April, Sarafov now serves as director of Bulgaria’s National Investigation Service and deputy prosecutor general for investigations.
