The independent telecommunications monitoring platform nPerf has ranked Bulgaria first in a global comparison of mobile internet quality, according to economic.bg. The ranking is based on data collected between 1 January and 29 April 2026.
Bulgaria topped the category of mobile network performance among a group of 20 countries, outperforming strong competitors from Southern and Central Europe, wealthy oil-producing economies in the Middle East, and several leading global economies.
The study compares countries and territories with similar GDP per capita levels. Its purpose is to identify which nations are able to build the most effective digital infrastructure relative to their economic resources.
The results indicate that Bulgaria's telecommunications sector significantly exceeds what might be expected based on the country's economic indicators. This achievement is attributed to substantial investments in the development of 5G networks, the expansion of fiber-optic connectivity, and the efficient management of radio-frequency spectrum resources.
