“Bulgaria’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) remains a key foreign policy priority for the new Bulgarian government. The government has committed to completing the technical phase of the accession process as soon as possible”, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova during a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann at the organization's annual Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris.

For his part, Mathias Cormann reaffirmed his personal commitment to the organization’s enlargement process. He emphasized that Bulgaria remains well positioned to complete the technical phase within the current year. The two shared the view that Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD would be mutually beneficial and expressed their readiness to continue close cooperation to successfully conclude the process.

Pre-accession reviews have been completed in 18 of the organization’s 25 working bodies, Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister said.
