On June 16, the European Parliament is debating the progress report on North Macedonia's path toward European Union membership. The next two days will be particularly important, as the discussion will be followed by a vote on the accompanying resolution, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova commented in Sofia, according to BTA.

"I have received information from Members of the European Parliament that, at the last moment, there will be an attempt in the plenary chamber to remove one of the texts that directly concerns the work of the Joint Multidisciplinary Expert Commission on Historical and Educational Issues under Article 12 of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation. The aim is to render its work and future conclusions meaningless. As far as I know, consultations are currently taking place within the various parliamentary groups. I hope that my colleagues in the European Parliament will be able to raise the issue of the latest incident," Iotova sai

On June 15, in Skopje, two diplomatic vehicles belonging to the Bulgarian Embassy were set on fire in broad daylight and in the presence of police officers.

"The burning of diplomatic vehicles, which are the property of the Bulgarian state, is something I regard as an attack against Bulgaria," President Iotova added.
