The political leadership of the Republic of North Macedonia is doing everything possible to delay their country's membership in the European Union, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has told journalists.

Regarding the arson of two diplomatic cars in front of the Bulgarian embassy in Skopje, the Prime Minister said that there can be no meeting between him and the North Macedonian Prime Minister because the problem was not bilateral: "Mickoski has a problem with the EU."

"The political leadership not only does not punish such attacks, but their perpetrators are even encouraged and used in election campaigns," the PM Radev added. He pointed out that as long as there are no clearly established principles of the rule of law and no consequences for the perpetrators of such undignified acts, there is nothing more to say to the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia.

According to Rumen Radev, North Macedonia must convince the EU that it respects human rights and can guarantee the security of all diplomatic missions on its territory.
