Bulgaria is not vetoing the 21st sanctions package against Russia. The package is currently being discussed among EU member states. It is precisely at this stage that countries voice their reservations, Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova told bTV. “This is not the first time Bulgaria has voiced reservations. In this case, they relate both to individuals, including Patriarch Kirill, and to the energy sector”, Minister Petrova added.

“If our reservations are taken into account and a consensus is reached with the other member states, the package will be adopted, as has generally happened in the past”, Velislava Petrova said.
Asked whether US tanker aircraft would be relocated from Sofia Airport due to the June 30 deadline set by the Bulgarian government, Velislava Petrova-Chamova said the decision rested with the US side and that it remained to be seen whether steps would be taken to move the aircraft.
