The winner of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, Darina Yotova (DARA), is joining a major campaign to promote Bulgaria abroad. The Tourism Ministry's project envisages producing promotional videos and materials featuring prominent Bulgarians, including artists, athletes, scientists and other accomplished personalities, who will present the country through their personal stories.
“Bulgaria needs its star ambassadors to help millions of people discover its history and beauty”, Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov said. He presented DARA with a statuette featuring Bulgaria’s most recognizable symbol- the rose.
For her part, DARA described her hometown of Varna as the place she feels most connected to and said she is proud of the city’s landmarks, including the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis, home to the world’s oldest processed gold, the Stone Forest (Pobiti Kamani) natural phenomenon, Aladzha Monastery and the Roman Baths.
“History was my favourite subject at school. For me, it is important that the message to the audience is personal. When someone speaks about a place they have truly felt, it resonates much more deeply with people”, the singer said during a meeting at the Ministry of Culture.
