For a second consecutive day, a series of anonymous bomb threats has disrupted the work of state institutions across Bulgaria, bTV reported. The mass emails were sent in the morning, with the number of alerts almost double that of the previous day.
The first wave of anonymous threatening messages affected more than 22 cities across Bulgaria, mainly targeting courthouses, prosecutors’ offices and several major municipalities. Today’s threats contained religious references, invoking God and warning of a detonation within two hours.
The targets again included dozens of courthouses and municipal buildings, as well as hospitals and National Revenue Agency offices in Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and a number of other cities. Employees and citizens were urgently evacuated, while Ministry of Interior teams carried out thorough inspections of the buildings.
No dangerous items or explosive devices were found, and by the afternoon normal operations had been restored everywhere. According to investigators, the incident is an automated hybrid attack aimed at causing mass panic.
