The
opposition has described the words and actions of the ruling party
regarding the so-called Coalition of the Willing in support of
Ukraine as “political schizophrenia.”
While
Prime Minister Rumen Radev said on Wednesday that Bulgaria’s
decision not to participate in the Coalition of the Willing is a
contribution to peace, Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova yesterday
signed a declaration in Kyiv, confirming the important role of the
coalition and expressing readiness to strengthen the country’s
participation in its work.
“A
declaration signed by the Foreign Minister is a declaration backed by
the state. What the Prime Minister said is now de facto
nullified by the signed declaration,” GERB-SDS MP Georg
Georgiev said.
The
former foreign minister added that we should wonder which role of Rumen
Radev we can believe - the Eurosceptic who will veto the
sanctions, or his pro-European government calling for stronger
sanctions against Russia.

According
to Ivaylo Mirchev from Democratic Bulgaria, the chaotic behaviour of
the cabinet is damaging the Bulgarian interests
and the trust of partners. According
to him,
this is being done with one goal – to exploit the Russophile vote
for the upcoming presidential elections.
“There
is no such country in which the prime minister does one thing and the
foreign minister does another,” commented Nikolay Denkov, chairman
of the parliamentary group of We Continue the Change.
The
leader of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov described as
"typical duplicity of the cabinet" the fact that it is
pursuing a dual policy and saying one thing to international
partners, but completely different to Bulgarian society.
Meanwhile,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs came out with a position that
Velislava Petrova had not signed a declaration committing Bulgaria to
strengthen its participation in the Coalition of the Willing.
