President Iliana Iotova wants 2027 to be declared Year of Levski

On behalf of President Iliana Iotova, at a celebration at the National History Museum, an appeal was made to declare 2027 the Year of Vasil Levski.

The proposals on the occasion of the anniversary of the Apostle's birth have been sent to the presidential institution by the Municipality of Karlovo, the All-Bulgarian Committee "Vasil Levski" and the "Vasil Levski" Foundation, it became clear from the speech read by the head of state on the occasion of the 189th anniversary of the Bulgarian revolutionary.

The Vasil Levski Foundation has already prepared a program of initiatives, including historical routes and the restoration of Levski's hiding place in the village of Golyam Izvor. The Karlovo municipality, on the other hand, is insisting that a national initiative committee be established to prepare the program and provide the necessary funding for the commemoration of the year.
