As of August 11, the two units at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant continue to operate according to the electricity generation schedule. All necessary technical and organizational measures have been taken to ensure the operation of the shoreline pumping station, which supplies the required volumes of water to the circulating water pumping stations and the technical cooling water systems. To ensure an adequate water supply, the channels connecting the Danube River to the shoreline pumping station are being cleared, the Ministry of Energy said.

The river’s low water level is causing not only problems but also creating opportunities for some additional leisure activities. The island of the same name near the town of Kozloduy is now accessible by land. For around two weeks, people have been taking advantage of the opportunity to reach the island by car or on foot, BTA reported.
