Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will not be held in the country’s capital Sofia, but in Burgas – a Black Sea port city with a population of 200,000. The news has baffled some Bulgarians and even the Bulgarian winner of this year’s edition, Dara, did not hide her surprise, The Guardian pointed out in an article.
The publication recalls that after Dara’s victory in May this year, Bulgaria will have the opportunity to host the biggest party in Europe for the first time in its history. The publication points out that preparations for the grand finale of Eurovision have already begun around the “Arena Burgas”, a hall with a capacity of 15,000 seats. It also quotes information from the city’s airport that it is ready to welcome the increased flow of passengers.
