There is currently no crisis situation at the Kozloduy NPP despite the reduction in the output of Unit 5 by about 120 megawatts due to the ongoing decline in the level of the Danube River. This became clear from a statement by the Minister of Energy Iva Petrova to journalists.

According to the minister, the reduction in capacity is a preventive measure, provided for in the plant's action plan for low Danube levels. "The situation is under control," Petrova said. She pointed out that if the water level continued to drop, it might be necessary to further reduce the plant's capacity.
