PM Radev: No speculation needed over Coalition of the Willing

Prime Minister Rumen Radev said there was “no need for speculation” over Bulgaria’s absence from today’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, the group of countries supporting Ukraine. Asked by BNR whether Bulgaria nevertheless had a representative at the meeting, Radev referred to his announcement in Paris that the country would no longer participate in the group.

“As for the Coalition of the Willing, I don’t think there is any need for speculation. You have seen how many leaders are in Ukraine. I think they can be counted on no more than the fingers of both hands. That is not the whole of the European Union,” Radev told BNR reporter Marta Mladenova.

He said no Eastern European country was attending the meeting, including Poland, “because this initiative requires significant financial resources, it requires significant technological development, and its parameters are extremely unclear”.

Bulgaria will be represented in Kyiv by Ambassador Zlatin Krastev at the celebrations marking Ukraine’s Independence Day.
