The Bulgarian Parliament has given final approval to a zero excise duty rate from October 1 to December 31, 2026, for natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used as motor fuel. The measure was adopted with amendments to the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act, which were approved at first and second reading during the same parliamentary sitting, BTA reported. The bill was tabled by Progressive Bulgaria.
The measure is prompted by the need to introduce temporary measures to mitigate the adverse economic effects of high fuel prices and disruptions to the supply chains for oil, petroleum products and natural gas, caused by the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, the bill's sponsors said.
