Music lovers around the world are eagerly anticipating Diptyque, the first joint album by acclaimed Bulgarian opera star Sonya Yoncheva and her husband, Venezuelan conductor Domingo Hindoyan. Recorded with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the album features vocal and orchestral works by Giuseppe Martucci, known as the “Italian Brahms”, and French composer and musicologist Joseph Canteloube, best known for his orchestral arrangements of folk songs.
The title Diptyque refers to two independent parts that form a unified whole. For Yoncheva and Hindoyan, it also carries a deeply personal meaning: a meeting of two artistic worlds, of singer and conductor, of husband and wife who retain their individuality while sharing a common horizon.
This distinctive musical narrative of love, longing, memories and the invisible bonds between people also features a world premiere recording: Joseph Canteloube’s symphonic poem Vers la Princesse lointaine (Towards the Faraway Princess), based on Edmond Rostand’s play La Princesse lointaine. It tells the story of a medieval troubadour’s unattainable love.
Canteloube is also represented on the album by Triptyque, a set of three songs for voice and orchestra to poems by Roger Frène. The Italian repertoire comprises Giuseppe Martucci’s La canzone dei ricordi (The Song of Memories), a cycle of seven songs set to poems by Rocco Emanuele Pagliara, and his Notturno (Nocturne).

Sonya Yoncheva dedicates the album to her former professor at the Geneva Conservatory, Danielle Borst. According to the Bulgarian soprano, Borst taught her everything an artist needs to know: resilience, refinement, elegance and freedom.
The album’s first single, one of Martucci’s songs, was released on 2 October on YouTube, Spotify and other platforms. The second single, featuring another work by the Italian composer, is due out on 16 October, followed by a song from Canteloube’s Triptyque on 23 October. The complete album, released by ONYX Classics, will be available on 30 October 2026.
The artistic and life partners Sonya Yoncheva and Domingo Hindoyan will perform together in Sofia on 20 December 2026 at a Christmas gala entitled One Light, to be held at Arena 8888 Sofia.
