For the second consecutive day, dozens of TIR trucks have been waiting at the border crossings with North Macedonia and Serbia. The reason for the blockade that began on January 26 is dissatisfaction with the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) that has come into force and the resulting economic losses for carriers.

The crossing of passenger cars to and from North Macedonia through the Deve Bair–Gyueshevo, Delchevo–Stanke Lisichkovo, and Novo Selo–Zlatarevo checkpoints is proceeding without problems. The line of TIR trucks on the Bulgarian side at Gyueshevo is over 2 km long, reported BNR’s correspondent in Kyustendil, Kiril Falin. Passenger cars are also passing without hindrance at the Kalotina checkpoint to and from Serbia.

Chief Inspector Manol Manolkov, head of the Kalotina checkpoint, told bTV that there is no congestion of heavy goods vehicles outside the border crossing area. Trucks are waiting in designated areas before the border crossing.
