There should be no drastic cuts in expenditures in the 2026 budget, Confederation of Independent Trade Union in Bulgaria (CITUB) President Plamen Dimitrov told the media. According to him, the budget deficit can be kept within 3%. Plamen Dimitrov said he does not believe Bulgaria’s public finances are in a catastrophic state. “There are problems, but there is also a record surplus”, he said.

CITUB will insist on a 10% increase in incomes, Plamen Dimitrov added. He believes that if the economy continues to grow at its current pace, the minimum wage could reach EUR 1,000 by 2030, while the average salary could rise to EUR 2,225.
“My message on May 1 is for fair pay, job security and prospects for workers in both the private and the public sector”, said Dimitar Manolov, President of the Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa”, who led a march marking the International Workers’ Day.
