Bulgaria has not ratified the Charter of the Gaza Peace Board established on the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump and therefore cannot be obliged to make any financial contributions to the project. This is stated in a response by Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova to a parliamentary question from MP Atanas Slavov.

Slavov raised the issue in connection with media reports claiming that the Peace Board is facing a funding shortfall and that member states have been urged to increase their contributions, as well as calls for additional countries to support the financial aspects of Gaza’s reconstruction and the activities of a new transitional authority in the Palestinian enclave.

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister notes that no requests or invitations for financial participation have been received by Bulgaria. “Any subsequent actions by the government will be aligned with the country’s fiscal capacity in the coming years,” the minister adds.
