After a several-hour meeting, the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council unanimously decided to leave without consideration the request for the removal of Borislav Sarafov as acting Prosecutor General. The case was referred to the Prosecutors’ College, which must rule on it within its competence.
The request for Sarafov’s removal was submitted by the caretaker Minister of Justice, Andrey Yankulov.
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice announced that Yankulov’s request was motivated by an opinion of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Cassation, according to which after July 21, 2025, there is no legitimately acting Prosecutor General in Bulgaria.
