Romania’s Daria Vrinceanu took silver with a result of 13.70 metres, while Spain’s Ana De Leon finished third with 13.58 metres.

For Angelova, this is her second major international triumph. On July 19, she won the European U18 title in Rieti, Italy, with a jump of 13.98 metres.

Angelova is the daughter of former Bulgarian national basketball player Dimitar Angelov and is coached by Georgi Pomashki.

The European Athletics Championships begin on August 10 in Birmingham. Bulgaria’s participation will get under way on the opening day, with Bozhidar Saraboyukov competing in the long jump. On Monday, Bulgaria’s triple jump representatives Gabriela Petrova and Aleksandra Nacheva will also take to the runway.
