Following the completion of the first stage of the Host City Selection Process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, Burgas and Sofia have advanced to the final evaluation phase. The municipalities of Varna and Plovdiv have not advanced to the next round.

The first stage involved assessing the technical specifications of the proposed venue in accordance with the requirements of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the contest's production standards.

In an official letter, BNT Director General Milena Milotinova stated that the decision "does not call into question the undeniable strengths of the eliminated cities or their well-established traditions in music, culture and international festivals, which opens up opportunities for their participation in the accompanying program" of the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, BNT reports.
